Buyer-only verification for paid Discord servers
Invite links leak. Screenshots of your welcome channel get shared. Here's how to make sure that only people who actually paid can verify into your premium Discord, and stay restorable once they do.
Short answer
On RestoreCord Enterprise, add one or more verification passwords in your server's firewall settings, turn on Password Locked, and send the password to buyers with their checkout confirmation. Anyone without a valid password is stopped before receiving the verified role.
Why invite links aren't a paywall
Most paid Discord communities start the same way: a buyer pays, gets an invite link and lands in the server. The weak spot is that the link works for anyone holding it. It ends up in a group chat, a forum post or a resale listing, and suddenly people who never paid are reading the channels your subscribers fund. Kicking them one by one is a losing game.
A better approach is to separate getting into the server from getting into the paid channels. Let the invite bring people to a verify channel, and make verification itself the part that requires proof of purchase.
How verification passwords work
On Enterprise, RestoreCord lets you attach passwords to a server's verification. With Password Locked turned on, every verification attempt on that server needs a valid password. The verify page asks for it, rejects wrong ones with a clear message, and only a successful attempt hands out the verified role that opens your premium categories.
| Setting | What it controls | Paid community use |
|---|---|---|
| Verification password | A code accepted on the verify page | One per product, tier or launch |
| Max uses | How many verifications a password allows | Match it to the seats you sold |
| Expiry date | When the password stops working | End of a cohort or promotion |
| Enabled / disabled | Switches a single password on or off | Kill a leaked code instantly |
| Password Locked | Requires a password for every attempt | Turns the codes into a real gate |
Setting it up
- Open your server in the RestoreCord dashboard and go to the firewall settings.
- Choose Add Verification Password, enter the code and, if you want, a use limit and expiry date.
- Turn on Password Locked so verification can't be completed without a password.
- Make sure paid channels are visible only to the verified role, not to @everyone.
- Test it with a spare account: once without a password, once with the right one.
What to put in the checkout confirmation
Buyers should never have to ask for the code. Add it to the message or email your store sends after payment. A plain template is enough:
Thanks for joining Gold Lounge!
1. Join the server: <your invite link>
2. Open #verify and press Verify
3. When asked for a password, enter: <cohort password>
Verifying also means we can bring you back
automatically if the server is ever lost. That last line matters. Verification isn't only a gate: every member who completes it authorizes your bot to add them to a server later, which is what lets you recover paying members after a server loss.
Passwords per cohort
Because you can run several passwords at once, you can give each launch, tier or reseller its own code. Watch the uses counter: a code that is suddenly being used far more than you sold is a leak, and disabling it affects nobody else. Expiry dates handle the rest, so a summer promo code stops working on its own when the promo ends.
Business plans can't use passwords, but they still get Redirect After Verify, Access Email and reminders with auto-kick. That combination already keeps the verify channel tidy and every verified buyer restorable.
Round out the onboarding
- Welcome message: sent when someone joins but hasn't verified, so buyers know exactly where to go.
- Reminder and kick messages (Business and above): a nudge for people who stall, then removal on the schedule you set.
- Redirect After Verify (Business and above): send verified buyers straight to your portal, course or first post.
- Access Email (Business and above): a contact address for members who verify with it enabled, useful if Discord access is lost.
A password stops people verifying, not people joining. Keep the verify channel the only thing @everyone can see, or the gate has a side door.
Once the door is locked, protect what's behind it: the paid role restore guide covers getting tiers back after a restore. Or head back to RestoreCord VIP.
Lock verification to paying buyers
Add a verification password
In the server's firewall settings, create a password and set a use limit or expiry if you want one.
Enforce it
Turn on Password Locked so every verification attempt on the server needs a valid password.
Hand it out at checkout
Put the password and the verify link in the confirmation your buyers receive after paying.
Retire it on schedule
Disable or replace passwords when a cohort or promotion ends, and watch the uses counter.
Verification password questions
Sell access, not invite links
Gate your paid Discord behind codes only your buyers receive, and keep every verified buyer recoverable.
